Gabriel, better known as Kapa, Drescher is the Development Director and co-founder of Quriiri. Kapa is motivated by interesting technical challenges. He also wants to provide a workplace for talented people where they can enjoy their work and have fun. He believes strongly in the future of SMS and that companies will continue to find new uses for this secure and reliable technology.
What is your role with Quriiril?
I'm a development manager at Quriiri and I'm responsible for a wide range of development issues, whether it's business or technology development.
How did you get into this field?
I've been doing mobile communications services for 20 years. It all started at MTV3 Tele Oy in 2002, when I got involved in making TV polls, games and other interactive entertainment that used SMS in one way or another. It was an interesting and rewarding time.
Why have you set up Quriirin?
I had the desire to do my own thing and I saw that SMS has huge potential and a huge opportunity for growth. SMS is the only channel that reaches almost all recipients, at least those with a phone in their pocket. I have a long experience in the industry and I felt that there is still a lot to give to the communications business.
What is the best thing about your job?
There are rarely dull days and there are plenty of interesting things to do. We strive to provide a technically scalable, stable and high-performance service. Reliability is of the utmost importance to us, so our service has to be able to handle very high volumes of messages. The technical challenges we face make time fly by and things move forward at a fast pace. The evolution of services and technology and seeing the company grow are the biggest motivators in my work.
It also makes you feel good when you can offer a reliable workplace where people feel comfortable. When you see others enjoying their work, it feeds your own.
What interests you in your free time?
In my free time, I like to do all sorts of things, from hockey to construction projects. I might even take an ATV, take it apart and put it back together again. I always like to learn new things and explore new things, whether it's a code challenge or building a retaining wall for my ”yard”. There's always a project in progress or at least in the planning stages.
What is Quriiri like to work in?
Quriiri is a relaxed, flexible and comfortable place to work. That's thanks to a good team. We have a lot of freedom to do things our way, in other words, a lot of opportunities for self-fulfilment.
We have challenging projects and a great environment to continuously develop in your work and as a person. The corona has pretty much ruined our social interactions, but we've bonded well despite everything.
What does the future hold for Quriiri?
The future of Quriiri looks very bright, we have many new projects underway and in the pipeline. They will take our company to the next level and drive our business forward.
The text message will be around for a long time to come. Only a fraction of companies have used SMS as a channel, but the role of SMS will become increasingly important in business communication. It is a very versatile channel, allowing messages to be delivered safely, securely and reliably. There will certainly be more and more uses in the future.
