Short code
A short code is registered in the company’s name and issued by Traficom. Using a short code increases the company’s credibility and trustworthiness.
- Consumer price 0 €
- 5 or 6 digits
- Works only with Finnish mobile subscriptions

Extended short code option available. An extended short code allows a three-digit extension to be activated at the end of the short code (e.g. 18XXXYYY, where YYY is a three-digit extension). This enables up to 999 extensions under a single short code.

Using short codes in Finland
The use of short codes in Finland is regulated by Traficom. The main purpose and benefit of short codes is to enable clear company identification. Short codes are regulated numbers, making it possible to identify the industry, service, or type of content they are associated with — as well as the company they are registered to. For message senders and marketers, this is a clear advantage: recipients can immediately recognize who is contacting them based on the number.
SMS short codes
SMS short codes issued by the Finnish Communications Authority are 5- or 6-digit numbers starting with 12, 13, 16, 17, or 18. The prefix indicates the type of use — for example, numbers starting with 12 are reserved for business use, 16 for customer service numbers, and 18 for free services. You can check existing short codes and apply for available numbers on Traficom’s websiteApplications for these numbers are submitted to the Finnish Communications Authority, and their allocation is governed by official telephone numbering regulations.
Number Activation and Porting
Messages can be received via virtual phone numbers using both APIs and Quriiri’s applications. If your company already has a short code — or several — they can also be ported to Quriiri’s services. Maintaining operator connections for short codes through Quriiri is a practical choice. With Quriiri, you can receive messages from subscribers of any operator through a single technical interface. This eliminates the need to integrate and maintain separate connections to each mobile operator.
