SMS is a direct route to the customer and its role is to provide relevant content to the customer. If the message remains generic or robotic, the SMS will be less effective and will not create an emotional connection with your business. By giving each customer a sense that the SMS is for them, you can increase engagement with both your message and your brand.

Telephones are now an integral part of us and we respond automatically to all telephone notifications. On the other hand, our concentration has diminished and our interest needs to be aroused quickly. A text message is just text, so the content of the message and the tone of voice are emphasised. A general message that is the same for everyone is easy to write, but even small things can add personality to messages. So feel free to experiment with personalising your text messages and you can, at best, create an emotional connection with your customer and increase sales.

How to create personalised and targeted SMS messages

You can only personalise text messages if you have the necessary information about your customers. So try to gather information about your customers that will help you target and personalise your messages. Collecting data is a great way to understand who your customers are and to create content that is relevant to them.

Aim to collect data at the moment a person becomes a customer or joins your SMS list. However, you can also complete the information later. In Quriiri, you can store a total of 11 predefined pieces of information such as first name, surname, date of birth, gender, place of residence, etc. in your customer contact information. You can also create 4 freely definable data.

You can create new contacts one by one in Quriiri, but the easiest way is to import contact details at once either Excel- or csv-file extension. In the file, specify the data you want for each column (e.g. to column A GSM number, to column B first name, to column C surname, etc.). See the earlier instructions for more details. from our article at.

Personalisation improves SMS open rates

Text personalisation is a simple way to add personality to your text messages. Using a first name as a personalisation tool has been shown to improve open rates.

When you add customer information to your contacts in Quriiri, you can easily personalise SMS messages by adding a personalisation field to the message. The information is automatically extracted into the message and the customer will see a personalised message. By pre-building message templates with personalisation criteria ready to go, you speed up the process of sending messages and ensure that messages remain consistent and on brand.

Text message personalisation in the Quriirin user interface

You can conveniently personalise your SMS messages either through the Quriiri Messaging Suite in your browser or by integrating SMS messages into your own system using the Quriiri Message Router, where data is automatically extracted through the interface.

Personalisation is ideal for a wide range of messages, such as marketing messages, reminders, pick-up notifications or surveys.

The SMS message from the electricity company can contain personalisation parameters such as first name, address, contract expiry date, contract renewal period and price.

Create a group of contacts and send targeted messages to groups

By segmenting your customers, you can target different messages to different audiences. This is another effective way to add personalisation to your messages. Quriiris allows you to segment by creating different groups of contacts. You can send a personalised message to one or more groups.

You can create a group based on information in your contacts, such as gender, where you live or your own parameters. One contact can be in more than one group.

The key to personalising SMS messages is keeping information up-to-date and creating friendly and personal messages. The recipient is always a unique person who is ready to interact with your business, as long as you make the threshold low enough.

Personalisation and targeting of SMS messages can further enhance the effectiveness of SMS messages. If your company doesn't yet personalise SMS messages, start with a small experiment to see how they work. If you are not yet using the SMS channel at all, you can try Quriiria for free
