Businesses are sending more text messages than ever before

15.2.2024
When the first SMS was sent in December 1992, no one would have predicted how popular a communication channel it would become. As mobile phones became more common, so did the explosion in popularity of SMS. Over the last decade, however, the role of SMS has changed. Texting no longer means sending a quick message to friends and family - today, SMS is a powerful communication channel, especially for businesses.

Text messaging is helping businesses connect with customers more effectively than ever before. We interviewed the co-founder of Quriiri Lasse Lohikoskea and asked how the SMS was going.

What's the status of your text message?

Text messaging is doing better than ever and is being used more than ever in business communications. SMS is an effective, accessible and cost-efficient channel and that's why companies are using it. We are constantly getting new customers who are realising that this works.,” says Quriirin's Business Director Lasse Lohikoski.

What is SMS used for most?

Text messaging is used in particular for commercial communications. Beneficial communications include notifications, pin codes, confirmations and reminders. But yes, marketing messages are also sent. What companies have in common is the need to deliver information to the customer reliably and quickly,” Lasse says.

What does the future of SMS look like?

Text messaging will continue to be used in business communications. Several studies support this claim. SMS is not going away, its use is only increasing worldwide. It will continue to be used for what it is best suited for, i.e. effective outreach,” says Lasse.

Mobile communication is becoming more diversified

In the future, SMS will be joined by other forms of communication that will diversify and enrich mobile communication. RCS (Rich Communication Services) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) are technologies that will be increasingly used in the future.

RCS will be the next step in mobile communications. With RCS, you can start communicating with your customers in a richer and more interactive way. SMS will certainly continue to be a secure and effective communication channel and RCS and MMS will work alongside it to provide more visual and interactive communication.,” says Lasse.

MMS is a technology that already exists and Lassen believes that it will be used more in the future, especially in business communications. MMS technology enables the transmission of images, sound and video in messages. MMS provides an effective way to engage customers, showcase products and build brand through visual elements.

Quriiri is also developing and diversifying

Quriiri's future plans look bright and Lasse is looking forward to the future.

In the future, we will offer a more diversified service. We will help businesses to use SMS for a variety of needs, but we will also bring Quriiri more multi-channel communication. We will offer our customers the most effective channels and technologies available, Product Lead at Annie.”

Quriiri's customers will continue to be able to reach their target group effectively through Quriiri's services and receive the best possible support.

We will focus on technical functionality and quality, and in the future, more and more on service availability. We want Quriiri's services to be accessible through interfaces and integrations with a wide range of systems or software,” says Lasse.
