How Docue secures contract signing with SMS
Docue is a Finnish company founded in 2015 that helps businesses standardise and automate their contract templates. The same service covers drafting, signing and managing contracts. Docue employs more than 20 people, and its technology is also embedded in other companies’ services.
When a customer is invited to sign a contract, the goal is usually a quick signature. That means the signing invitation has to reach the recipient quickly and reliably. Docue chose Quriiri to send signing invitations by SMS and also uses Quriiri for two-factor authentication.
Making Quriiri part of the signing process
Quriiri’s free trial made it easy to test the service, and it proved itself right away: the messages got through. Quriiri being a Finnish company also played a part in the decision.
SMS was built into Docue’s service through Quriiri’s API. When a customer is invited to sign a document, they receive a text message with a link to the document and a PIN code for logging in.
Docue has more than 2,000 customers across Europe, so messages need to reach recipients reliably outside Finland as well.
”We built the integration ourselves using the API, and getting started went smoothly. It’s important to us that messages reach our customers reliably wherever they are in Europe,” says Mikko Kutilainen, one of Docue’s founders.

”Every now and then, messages don’t get delivered. Usually there’s nothing anyone can do about it, because the phone is offline or the number is wrong. But it’s important for us to be able to tell our customers the reason quickly,,” Mikko says.
