SMS Sender ID – make your text messages instantly recognizable
SMS Sender ID allows you to make your messages trustworthy and instantly recognizable. With Quriiri, you can set your own sender name, and by registering your SMS Sender ID, you enhance the security and reliability of your communications.
What is SMS Sender ID?
Sender ID is the name of the sender that appears in the SMS message and is visible to the recipient as the sender of the message. Instead of displaying the sender of the message as an unknown number, you can display the name of your company, for example (e.g. Quriiri, Bilar99, Romuta).
This improves message recognition, builds trust and increases the effectiveness of messages
Registered or unregistered Sender ID?
With Quriiri, you can easily set your own sender ID. Sender ID can be:
Unregistered
The ID will appear in messages, but it is not protected. In practice, anyone can use the same name.
Registered (protected)
The SMS Sender ID is registered with the authority (Traficom) and locked for use only by your company. No one else can use it.
SMS Sender ID registration
By registering your own SMS Sender ID, you can prevent any other party from using the same SMS sender information in Finland. A registered SMS Sender ID helps your customers recognize your messages as trustworthy.
The sender name is registered with Traficom.
Your SMS provider is authorised to deliver messages using this sender name
If anyone other than an approved party attempts to send messages using your registered sender name, the messages are automatically blocked
Ensure secure communication and effectively protect your company’s reputation
Protecting your sender name is worth it
Sender name protection means that the sender name that appears in your company's messages is registered and verified. This prevents third parties from using your name illegally, for example in scam messages.

More trust
With a secure sender name, your customers can trust the SMS messages you send. You'll also prevent scams and abuse that could damage your brand.

Improve the safety of your customers
By ensuring that your messages always come from a trusted source, you can provide your customers with a secure communication experience.

Protect your brand
Scam messages can cause significant financial and reputational damage. Protecting the sender name helps to reduce these risks.

Show responsibility
Show that your company takes communications security seriously and acts responsibly to protect your customers' data.
This is how you register your SMS Sender ID and authorise your preferred partner(s):
In addition to registration, businesses and organisations sending SMS messages must. authorise the partner(s) of their choice (e.g. Quriiri), use Sender ID and get the necessary technical issues sorted out with operators within 3 months from the registration decision of Traficom. If the authorisation and technical measures are not taken, communication with the Sender ID in question will cease.

Prepare your application
The SMS Sender ID to be protected must be the business name, ancillary business name or co-business name of the company in the CIS. The protected sender name can be up to 11 characters long.

Make an application
Apply by filling in the application form available on the Traficom website.

Authorise your provider
Authorise your preferred partner(s) (e.g. Quriiri) in good time to use the SMS Sender ID registered for your company. If required, we will provide you with a proxy template that can be used in this context.

Enabling SMS Sender ID
Once we have received the mandate, we will take care of the technical details of the SMS Sender ID implementation with the operators, so that messages can be sent via Quriirin.
Operators are obliged to activate the protection of the sender ID within 3 months of the Traficom registration decision. After this period, no one other than an authorised partner will be able to send messages with this SMS Sender ID.
Therefore, it is very important that the company that has registered the SMS Sender ID authorises all partners through whom it wishes to send SMS messages in the future with the registered SMS Sender ID!
Traficom charges €200/year for registering an SMS Sender ID. The price will be fixed when the Ministry of Transport and Communications fee regulation is updated.
The SMS Sender ID can only be used as the sender of an SMS message if the SMS message is transmitted via the SMS application interface of a Finnish telecommunications company, where traffic for this ID is specifically opened. For this purpose, the SMS-sending organisation must enter into a contract with at least one Finnish telecommunications company directly or via an SMS aggregator (e.g. Quriiri).

Frequently asked questions about Sender ID
Can I use any name?
For each SMS message sent via Quriirin, you can set either alphanumeric (text, 11 characters) or numeric (15 digits) sender information. If the Sender ID is registered with another company, messages will not be delivered.
Can I reply to a message if I use a Sender ID?
No. When you use an alphanumeric name, you cannot reply to the message. For two-way communication you need a longcode or short number.
Does SMS Sender ID also work abroad?
The sender's name works well in Finland, but in some countries you need to register it officially. If you want to start communicating abroad, we're happy to help.
